Holiday Shop Must Haves

Tuesday 22 April 2014

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! I personally didn't get round to eating any chocolate but I did spend the weekend with family, which turned out to be a lovely Easter break after all.

I'm going away next week to Majorca (yay!) and picked up a few holiday essentials that I thought I'd share with you all. I did a similar blog post last year when I went on holiday but this post will include new bits and bobs I think I'll need for Majorca.

EX1 Cosmetics Invisiwear Foundation (F300)

I've always had trouble finding a decent foundation that suits my skintone on the high street. I've tried everything from Loreal's True Match in N6/W7 but found it wasn't the perfect match for me. It's tough finding something that isn't too orange based or pink based, that is, until now. The EX1 collection was founded by Farah Naz who herself had trouble finding the right foundation shade for her south asian complexion for an affordable price, which led her to start up her own line.

This foundation is light-medium to buildable and is very lightweight and non-cakey. which will be perfect for holiday. This is definitely my holy grail high street foundation! For me personally, nothing can replace MAC's studio fix fluid though this foundation is definitely a great alternative for daytime wear. It's also very affordable at £10.50. I bought mine on lookfantastic.com but they are also selling them at Topshop Oxford Street and Harvey Nichols. I will definitely do a more in-depth review soon, watch this space...

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I've heard rave reviews about the Micellar cleansing water in the blogosphere but I wasn't sure it would live up to the hype. I was wrong! I absolutely adore this cleanser. It's fragrance free, doesn't irritate your skin or eye area and most importantly it gets rid of make up, dirt and all that good stuff. It only costs £3 at boots and comes in an enormous 400ml bottle.

Re-Gen Cream

This is a specially formulated product that helps to prevent and provides treatment for stretch marks, scars, dry skin and blemishes. I used to use this Re-Gen cream religiously up until they stopped selling it at Aldi! You can imagine my excitement when I discovered that they actually sell this on amazon. I can't say for sure it does everything it says on the tin but it is very moisturising and reduces the appearance of stretch marks. Not really a holiday essential but definitely a top beauty purchase!

Mother of Pearl Shell Cream

I bought this cream in the hopes that it'll help even out my skintone, reduce my acne as I've been having a few breakouts lately and get rid of my tan. I've only used this cream once and it did even out my skin tone quite a bit but I'm going to give it a few more goes before I comment on how good it is! It's more of a scrub/face mask than a cream as it has micro beads in it and cannot be blended out. I bought this on amazon for only £5. I will do another review if the product proves to be consistently good.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I didn't want to invest in a beauty blender so I bought the next best thing and I'm so glad I did. I use this sponge to blend out concealer under my eyes and for highlighting and it gives a very pretty airbrushed finish. I've noticed a huge difference between using my foundation brush (MAC #188) and using this sponge - it doesn't eat up the product at all. If you don't want to purchase the beauty blender then this is a great alternative. Maybelline Falsies Waterproof Mascara

I usually hate going completely make up  free when I'm out in the sun and want to go in the pool so this is kind of a godsend. I haven't actually tried it out myself but I was searching for a waterproof mascara and the first thing that came to mind was this little beauty - I've heard amazing things about this mascara and will keep you updated on whether it's any good.

So there you have it. These are my top holiday must haves. I've probably left out a ton of stuff that I should have included (like SPF!). If there's anything you can't go on holiday without, please let me know down below in the comments.

Thanks for reading :)

  1. Hello! I saw your comment on another blog that the F400 was too dark for you... what is your MAC shade? I just ordered this and I am usually and NC42... so I am a little worried. Can't wait to see your review on this foundation! Lovely blog btw! <3

    1. Hey! Thanks :) I'm NC42 in MAC as well but found it a touch too dark. It might only be me though as on the website it says the F400 is supposedly an equivalent to an NC42 x
