L'Oreal True Match Foundation - W6.5 Golden Caramel

Monday, 16 November 2015

Hey everyone,

It's been a minute since I have done a review on my blog but today I am doing a foundation review on the newly reformulated L'Oreal True Match Foundation.

I wasn't too sure on what shade I'd be as I had struggled with the old formula shades. W7 was a bit dark and the next shade up was too light. However, I saw there was a w6.5 shade and I naturally thought it would be a shade in between so I was excited to try it.

It turned out the shade was a bit dark for me, even slightly darker than w7 which meant I had to do a lot of highlighting but I'm going to give you guys my honest thoughts on the new reformulated foundation.

Packaging

The packaging is more sleek, thinner and looks more appealing. It still comes with a pump - which to me is the most important factor at the end of my day, in terms of packaging. Its in a plastic bottle similar to the original packaging and has the usual 30ml of product.

Coverage

I was hoping the new formula meant that it wouldn't sag into my pores and have a more flawless coverage, however, though the new formula is a lot lighter on the skin, it is also a lot more dewy -  which my oily skin really doesn't agree with. It doesn't really cover much on my skin, even though my skin is in pretty good condition right now. I would say it gives a light coverage that can possibly be built up to medium with more layers.

Price

The price is about the same for all drugstore/high street foundations. The introductory price was £7.99 and the typical price is £9.99.

Heres me with the foundation on

Overall, I didn't particularly enjoy this foundation so I gave it to my sister who has dry skin and she really likes it. If you're unsure about this foundation I'd recommend trying it on in-store - as difficult as it may be - just so you know what sort of foundation it really is.

I hope you found this review helpful. Let me know if you'd like to see any more foundation reviews on my blog and my YouTube channel. Thanks for reading!

Back from Holiday

Monday, 14 September 2015

Hey everyone!

Quay Australia My Girl Sunglasses

I hope you're all doing well. I came back from my amazing holiday in Crete yesterday. I vlogged a lot of it and will hopefully have a video up soon showcasing the best bits of my time there. Some of you may follow me on snapchat (@BhavnaNina) where I regularly updated you guys on the latest. It was extremely hot - at least for me - every single day and I have a deep tan to show for it. My family and I went on a number of trips to caves, mountains, markets and palaces which proved to be a different sort of vacation than I am used to - I usually just spend most of my time in the hotel relaxing by the pool, however this holiday was definitely more educational. I will explain more about it in my video but I just wanted to let you guys know that I am back and I will be filming another video shortly :)

Thanks for reading and see you all soon.

Autumn/Fall Shoe Wishlist

Friday, 28 August 2015

Hey everyone,

I can't believe it is nearly autumn, Summer flew by so quickly! The best thing about Autumn for me is wearing 'fall' appropriate attire. I am obsessed with knee high/ankle boots, flared skirts and roll necks. I put together a list of footwear that I think is amazing for Autumn.

Charles Clinkard

As you can tell by this wishlist, I love black footwear as I think it's the most flattering and versatile colour.

ASOS PACEY Pointed High Heels

I adore these heels! They are the perfect evening wear stilettos. I'm only 5ft 4 so I'm always looking for something that will give me extra height. Nude is also an ideal colour for heels (as well as black) because it goes with everything and instantly dresses up an outfit.

Oasis Pointed Flat Slipper Shoes

I don't know what it is but I have been obsessed with pointed footwear. I just think they look so classy. These shoes are ideal for work as they are flat but they still have that elegance about them. They look so comfy and practical as well.

Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots

These boots have been all the rage this year. Stuart Weitzman always gets it right when it comes to boots and I've been enjoying his collections lately. These highland boots are very pricey and that's why they are still on my wishlist. They look absolutely stunning though, they feature a lace tie towards the back and has a lengthy heel as well. I really hope I can afford these one day.

Garbor Nubuck Boots

These ankle boots look amazing, they are the perfect statement piece for Autumn/fall and will make any outfit look a hundred times better! I love ankle boots as they are so easy to wear and go with everything - whether you're wearing leggings, jeans or a skirt; It has a small block heel which makes it ideal for everyday wear.

Garbor Hooray Modern Long Boots

These are such an amazing pair of knee high boots and are definitely my go-to style of boots at the moment. They are flat which makes them super comfy and they are just a staple for your Autumn/fall wardrobe.

Garbor Sound Zip Up Ankle Boots

Here are another pair of edgey ankle boots that will compliment any look. These are easy to walk in as they have a low block heel and it has a lovely suede finish

Garbor Brook M Long Boots

My final favourite pair of boots from the Garbor range are these long boots. They have a medium heel which is great if you don't want to wear completely flat boots. These are also a classic statement pair for all year round.

I hope you guys enjoyed this little sneak peak into my Autumn/Fall wishlist. The Garbor range boots are probably my top favourites from this list; they are must-haves this Autumn and are on-trend throughout the seasons. What I particularly love about them is the fact they have in-between sizes, so there's one for everyone (also, being in-between sizes myself this is great for finding the perfect fit). Check out the full range by clicking here

Let me know in the comments if theres anything you have been eyeing up for Autumn and want to purchase. Thank you all and I will see you very soon!

Oxygenetix Breathable Foundation Review

Tuesday, 26 May 2015

Hey everyone!

What a busy bank holiday weekend its been for me! On Saturday I attended Beautycon London, which was amazing by the way - (a full blog post will be coming up!) I had to leave early though because I was heading off on a mini bank holiday weekend getaway with family. I did vlog a bit of beautycon and the holiday but I have yet decided if I will be uploading this to my YouTube channel. Let me know if that's something you'd like to see.

Today's post is about a new discovery for me. I had been eyeing up the Oxygenetix Breathable Foundation* for a while now. So when I was offered the opportunity to review this popular foundation, I jumped at the chance.

Oxygenetix is renowned for its amazing skin benefits in their products. The foundation was originally developed to heal and conceal skin after cosmetic surgery and procedures such as laser and peels. Oxygenetix is based in Beverly Hills and has now taken the UK by storm - it was released here in late 2014 and the foundation has been marketed as a high end foundation that helps promote the healing process of a number of skin conditions, whilst being the ideal foundation for everyday wear.

Oxygenetix has gained a lot of celebrity fans, with Makeup artist Patty Bunch using the foundation on a number of celebrity clients.

The foundation is available in 14 shades, seven yellow base colours and seven blue base colours so there is bound to be a colour that suits most skin tones.

I have been testing out this foundation for a couple of weeks now to fully see how great it really is, and I must say I am very pleased with the results.

Oxygenetix Foundation Honey
Me with the foundation on in natural lighting

Application:

  • I apply one pump of the Oxygenetix foundation and this seems to be enough as a little goes a long way. The shade I got is in Almond, which is unfortunately a little pale for me and I think a shade up (honey) would have been a perfect fit. For reference I am an NC42 in MAC.

  • The coverage is good, it gives a light to medium buildable coverage which makes it perfect for any occasion. It can be worn everyday, for a night out or a wedding for the desired coverage.

  • The finish is semi matte without looking dull or overly drying, which makes it ideal for most skin types. I have oily skin and this seems to work for me.

  • You get an even coverage and it's very light on the skin.

Packaging:

The packaging is quite different to usual foundations, it comes in a 15ml plastic bottle that looks like medicine packaging, which is to be expected considering it originated as foundation for medical purposes. The foundation has a pump which is a bonus - I can't cope with foundations without a pump!

Pros:

  • Looks like skin if you get the correct shade.
  • Flattering in photos even though it contains an SPF of 20.
  • Lives up to its claim of being breathable; doesn't clog pores or cause breakouts.
  • The foundation is great for those with acne prone skin.

Cons:

  • Is a little expensive for £45 for a 15ml bottle, but I think it is definitely worth the investment.
  • Might be difficult to colour match.
  • Can be hard to get a hold of in-store, however, it can be purchased through Cult Beauty or beauty is skin deep.

Overall, I think this foundation is great for everyday as it contains SPF 20, which is an important factor for me. I will probably purchase the foundation in honey, especially because the Summer months are coming up and I'll definitely be getting more tanned.

I highly recommend this foundation if you're looking for something medium coverage whilst being light on the skin with sun protection.

If you have this foundation, or would like to try it out let me know in the comments section :) I might also do a review + demo on YouTube if anyone is interested.

Looking for your dream job

Tuesday, 19 May 2015

Hey everyone,

Today I bring you with a slightly different post than usual. As some of you may know, I had been unemployed for a year and a half after graduating from university, and during this time I would undertake a number of work experience placements and internships to gain experience in the field that I dreamt of getting employed into one day; Showbiz Journalism.

It's been almost 2 years since I graduated uni and I still haven't reached my goal. As some of you who may have been in a similar situation will know, getting a job in Journalism can be extremely difficult. I have quite a few well known companies under my belt but that doesn't seem to be enough. Do I give up? Or do I keep trying? Thats the question. It's come to that time where I am thinking realistically if this is a career that's worth fighting for. I am 24 years old and I am stuck in a dead-end retail job that I do not see a future in.

Although I enjoy blogging and creating YouTube videos, I don't earn any income from it - which is fine as I don't do it for that reason, but it's not enough to fulfill my creative energies and career goals.

This post doesn't really have a purpose, but I want to let you guys know that you are not the only ones dealing with the hardships of not getting a foot into the door of your chosen career path.

I also feel like the constant rejection has numbed my passion for my career.

I don't really have any words of wisdom or advice that will help. As they say, everything happens for a reason but I am starting to doubt that. I have applied for thousands of other media related jobs as well without any luck.

Let me know below of any tips you may have in this instance. Sorry for the really depressing tone of this post!

Roots & Rituals (R&R) Hair Product Review

Thursday, 7 May 2015

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to attend the Bloggers London Fashion Week event that was held in East London, and during my visit I came across many interesting brands. One of my favourites was the brand 'Roots & Rituals' who specialise in haircare products. What I loved most about this brand was the innovative package of their products and the natural ingredients like essential oils in their hair treatments.

My hair is quite oily at the scalp and dry towards the mid-lengths and ends and this is largely due to the fact that it's been damaged by hair colouring. Therefore I am always looking for products that are going to help get my hair back to the way it was.

I was lucky enough to get a sample of the hair conditioner, the deep conditioning hair oil and the heated towel to test out and review. The heated towel will not be reviewed in this post as I have not tried it out just just. So lets get straight into it shall we?

Deep Conditioning Hair Oil

This hair oil contains a lot of great beneficial oils in it like avocado oil, sesame oil, coconut oil, olive oil, argan oil and almond oil all into one nifty little product. What I love about this is you get all the benefits of different oils - that are great for different reasons - all in one hair oil treatment. You are advised to apply a small amount into the scalp in circular motions and spread evenly throughout hair. It says to leave it on for 30-40 minutes, however, I left it on for an hour as my hair has been suffering a lot since I had it highlighted. The product itself is very runny as you would expect it to be for a hail oil, it has a lovely scent and smells like essential oils; like a spa treatment, which helps you feel relaxed.

Results

The hair oil lived up to my expectations. It made my hair very soft, smooth and silky. I found it was easier to comb through my hair and my hair felt more nourished and hydrated.

Pros:

Great mix of essential oils

Nourishing weekly treatment
Relaxing scent
Doesn't leave your hair greasy after washing it out
Free from artificial fragrance, silicones and parabens

Cons

Comes in a 100ml bottle, which I am probably going to use up quickly

Hair Conditioner

Like the conditioning hair oil, the conditioner is packed full of beneficial ingredients that are really going to penetrate the hair shaft and make your hair more healthy. I applied the conditioner after shampoo and left it on for about 5 minutes. This conditioner was really intense and I could see a difference almost straight away. My hair felt really soft and nourished. R&R have actually just reformulated the conditioner into a hair mask due to popular demand, which I personally think is a great idea since its so intense.

Pros:

Great mix of essential oils
Moisturising effect
Leaves hair soft and supple
Free from artificial fragrance, silicones and parabens

Cons:

The strong essential oil smell can linger after washing it out (which isn't that much of a big deal for me)

I still have yet to test out the heated towel but I am sure that it will make the hair oil even better than it already is. I will keep you guys updated.

You can check out R&R haircare products here: http://www.rootsandrituals.co.uk/

I hope you enjoyed this review, let me know if you have tried any R&R products.

Spring Wish list 2015

Thursday, 23 April 2015

Hey everyone,

I hope you have all been enjoying the gorgeous weather lately, it's been particularly hot this April, which is unheard of in England! Now that it's Spring, the nights are getting longer and it has been getting a lot warmer, at least here in London, and its made me want to change my wardrobe up a bit to suit the warmer climate.

I have created a wish list featuring my favourite bits and pieces I really want this Spring. This wish list is particularly fashion heavy, let me know if we have been eyeing up the same things!

Boohoo Phoebe Roll Neck Rib Striped Sleeveless Top

I don't know about you, but I've been absolutely loving this season's trend of stripes. Not only do they look very flattering, but it's nice to change it up a bit from the plain old roll neck. This top would look great tucked into shorts or a skirt paired with some sandals/flatforms.

ASOS Wrap Skirt In Suede

I have literally been eyeing up this skirt for months! Another popular trend this season is suede. The 70's are really making a comeback and its about time they did! This skirt would look fabulous paired with a fitted top and and some chunky sandals.

Boohoo Heidi Slinky Ruched Side Midi Skirt

Another great camel coloured staple for Spring. This midi skirt has a nice ruched side to it and it's in the style of Kim Kardashian's own wardrobe. I don't know what it is but lately I have been loving midi skirts; I think they are so feminine and has that perfect balance of trendy and elegance. This would look amazing paired with a crop top, showing off the midriff.

Clarks Hayla Flute Casual Sandals

It wouldn't be Spring without a pair of snazzy sandals! Sandals are a must-have for Spring/Summer and these look super comfy and would be ideal to wear for a holiday or a casual outing. I would pair these with some denim shorts and a strappy vest top for a chilled out relaxed look.

Jones Bootmaker Krisp Wedge Heeled Sandals

As much as I love my flats, I love heels even more. At 5ft 4, I need as much added height as I can get and these are the nicest heeled sandals I have seen in a while. I always prefer going for a wedge heel as they are easier to walk in. These sandals are so stylish and would easily dress up any outfit - especially a playsuit or a dress.

River Island Gold Faux Pearl Placement Ring

I have really been into stacked rings lately and it's definitely on-trend this season. This ring is great for subtly dressing up a look whilst still being minimal with accessorising. This ring has a pretty pearl design on it which makes it look unique.

Topshop Mini Satchel

I have been eyeing up this satchel for a while. It's so simple yet so stunning! I love the yellow/mustard colour and I think it would look great with this seasons 70's trend. It would compliment a lot of Springy colours, too.

Topshop Flat Metal Cateye Sunglasses

A Spring wish list would not be complete without a pair of sunglasses! I love the shape of these cateye sunglasses as it looks really girly and chic; which is definitely my style. You can't go wrong with black either as its bound to compliment any outfit.

And that wraps up my Spring wishlist for 2015. I hope you guys liked some of the things I have selected, there's a direct link to all of the items in the titles if you are interested.

I will have a new video up on Sunday as usual so keep an eye out for that :)

I hope to be more active on here really soon but in the meantime check out my latest video on YouTube where I share my current favourite beauty products.
