New Years Eve Outfit Post

Monday, 30 December 2013

Hey guys!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas day and are enjoying the holidays! I didn't really get many presents this year to share with you all but I did get to spend time with family, which was great.

Today I'm bringing you a New Year's Eve outfit post based on what I would have worn on NYE had the delivery of the top come on time!

Anyway, here's the outfit! The sequin lace top is from boohoo.com and the leather look tube skirt is from New Look. It's always nice to dress up for New year's if you're going out on the town to a bar/club to celebrate with friends :)

And here's a pair of pointed court heels to finish the look, these are also from boohoo.com.

So there you go, that's my would-be new years outfit! I would probably pair this outfit with some arm candy and a simple necklace as the sequin lace top is statement enough.

Are you going anywhere nice to celebrate the new year? Please leave comments below. Hope you enjoyed this post!

My Christmas Wishlist Featuring ASOS, Missguided, Boohoo and More!

Friday, 20 December 2013

Hey everyone!

You've probably realised by now that I have been writing a lot of blog entries lately. As I'm still looking for a full-time job I've had a lot of free time to spoil you with beauty reviews and fashion must haves!

Christmas is around the corner and while we have all been busy shopping and buying presents for our friends and families, its easy to get side tracked and want literally everything we see in stores and online for ourselves! It's definitely happened to me anyway haha.

So I've come up with this Christmas wish list full of things that I want for Christmas from my favourite online outlets. (I'm actually hoping my sister is reading this right now hehe).

Black Strappy Heels

These lovely strappy heels are from Matalan and they are actually really good quality! I feel like Matalan is a little underrated as you can get some amazing stuff from there, especially shoes and accessories. These black heels have been raved about by bloggers and designers alike and whereas you can also find a pair of these strappy heels from Primark and other high street stores, my favourite pick are these ones from Matalan. They also only cost £15 which is a bargain.

Pale Pink Fluffy Yarn Jumper

This pretty pale pink fluffy jumper is also from Matalan. It's in this very cosy fluffy yarn material which is perfect for winter! It feels like you have a dressing gown/robe on! It also looks really cute and is an essential for all you girly girls out there like me!

Pointed Snake Trim Mid Heels

Pointed court heels have been on trend for a while now but the great thing about these particular heels are the amazing snake trim. The metallic snake print it has around the shoe makes it a little bit different to the rest. It also looks really chic and pretty. A definite must have for those of you who want extra height with a kick! These are available from boohoo and are on sale for £15. Bargain!

Tartan Shift Dress in Deep Green

This tartan dress is so pretty! Tartan is really in fashion at the moment and I've been searching a while for the best tartan dress. I have seen the ones at Primark but I didn't like the fit of them. This tartan dress from Missguided however is more fitted and would suit almost anyone :) I also love the deep green colour. Personally I prefer dark green over the red tartan trend. This costs £24.99.

I hope you liked my little Christmas wishlist! And I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and have a wonderful Christmas day.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Liquid Foundation - Natural Beige Review

Thursday, 19 December 2013

Hey guys!

So as I mentioned in my last post I purchased Rimmel's Wake me up foundation in 'Natural Beige' #400 to review for you guys.

Lets start off with the packaging - the packaging looks quite expensive which is great, plus it has an orange lid which instantly grabs your attention when you see it. It's in a glass container, which is better than plastic as it's more travel friendly and less likely to break.

The foundation contains 30ml of product and unfortunately it only comes in 6 different shades. This is one reason on a long list of why I didn't particularly like this product. The shade I got was in the darkest shade #400 #Natural Beige' which I found had too many pink undertones and was way too beige for my skin tone.

I have yellow/golden undertones so this product is probably not suitable for people with a similar undertone as me. The finish is dewy, but I didn't really feel like it gave me a dewy finish. The finish on me looked kind of shiny and the shimmer particles it's meant to have weren't so noticeable. I also felt this foundation enhanced my imperfections which was quite awful! I just don't think this foundation is suitable for darker skin tones unfortunately, which is quite disappointing. It also tends to leave a white cast when using flash photography.

Here's a not so pleasant photo of me with the Rimmel wake me up foundation in #400. No powder, concealer or anything else, just the foundation.

Overall, I think this foundation would look gorgeous on fair-light skin tones and it is very inexpensive at £8.99. High street stores like Superdrug and Boots regularly do discounts on this particular line - I got mine for £6.00 on the Superdrug website, keep a look out for special offers!

Do you own this foundation? What were your initial thoughts? Leave comments below :)

L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Liquid Foundation - Honey (N6) REVIEW

Wednesday, 18 December 2013

Hey guys!

I decided it was time to put my MAC studio fix fluid aside for a second and delve into some high street/drugstore foundations. I recently went out and purchased the L'oreal True Match Super Blendable Liquid Foundation in the shade Honey - N6.

I've heard rave reviews about this foundation so I thought I'd test it out myself! The foundation contains SPF 17 which is great for all year round. I tried out the shade W7 as well but found this a little dark and too yellow toned.

The formula is water based and quite runny but it also lives up to its name and is super blendable. The foundation contains a pump which is a bonus! Don't you just hate foundations that don't? And then you pour too much and end up wasting more than you should? Anyway, I use 1-2 pumps for my full face and neck and dot it everywhere for consistent coverage.

The foundation lasts for ages - I applied the Super Blendable True Match powder in shade W6 (honey) to set the foundation and also to prevent any shine.

The foundation was a little light on my skin but I prefer it to be lighter than darker because you can always contour to make it look natural. Also, I find this foundation does oxidise a bit during the day so it's certainly worth getting a shade lighter especially if you have medium-dark skin.

The foundation itself is perfect for a flawless finish. It has a semi-matte finish with shimmer particles that aren't so noticeable. It does cover slight blemishes and evens your skin tone.

L'oreal Paris are always doing special 3 for 2 offers in Boots and Superdrug so its definitely worth checking it out as they do have a huge colour selection for this foundation :)

Here's a terrible photo of me with only the foundation and powder, no other make up.

What do you guys think? Have you purchased this foundation? What are your thoughts? Leave comments below :) I will be reviewing the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in my next post!

MAC Nude/Pale Pink Lipsticks for Tan Skin Tones

Friday, 6 December 2013

Hey everyone!

It's been so cold lately here in the UK hasn't it? I've been cosying up to my hot water bottle like a little old lady! Along with my fleecy dressing gown and socks. I think it's time to get the onesie out. While I've been Christmas shopping for the family, it occurred to me that I haven't exactly done a blog post specifically on nude lipsticks for south asian/tan/dark skin tones so I thought I'd dedicate this post to the cause!

It can be extremely difficult picking out the perfect nude or pale pink lipstick for darker skin tones. I am from Indian descent and find I have to go through trial and error to find the right lipsticks for me. Fortunately for you I can share the ones I think work best for those with similar skin tones! Here are a few lipsticks and lip glosses that I think work perfectly for me and others alike.

I had photo's of me wearing all these lipsticks especially for this blog but they didn't come out proper unfortunately.

MAC Cherish Lipstick (Satin)

This is the newest edition to my nude lipstick collection. Cherish is a lot like MAC's peachstock but a little darker and more complementary to south asian skin tones. It doesn't need a lip gloss on top but you can always add one on if you want.

MAC Freckletone Lipstick (Lustre)

This is the first ever MAC lipstick I purchased. It's a neutral peachy nude colour with a creamy lustre finish. It can be worn on it's own or paired with a lip gloss. I use MAC's lustreglass in 'Sinnamon' which is a medium taupe brown. Applied over freckletone it makes the colour look more neutral and less washed out. This is definitely my favourite nude lipstick I own. It looks amazing on tan skintones!

MAC Yash Lipstick (Matte)

Yash is described as a deep neutral which seems to be quite a good description for it. It's not too beige toned or too nude toned which makes it, well, a neutral! It's definitely one of the more flesh-toned lipsticks in my collection and I feel I have to work with it a bit to stop it from making me look washed out. It's still a great lipstick though! However, not a huge fan of the matte finish for nude lipsticks.

MAC Creme Cup Lipstick (Cremesheen)

This used to be my go-to pale pink lipstick before I discovered Modesty but it is still one of my favourites! It is a lovely light blue-pink lipstick that compliments lighter south-asian and tan skin tones. It can be worn on its own or teamed up with a lipgloss to neutralise the blue tones in the lipstick.

MAC Mehr Lipstick (Matte)

Apparently this lipstick looks great on darker skin tones, especially South Asians. I do like this lipstick but it is a bit darker than any midtone pinks I own. It's probably my least favourite pink but it still looks okay. I prefer my 'See Sheer' (lustre) to this lipstick. Personal preference.

MAC Modesty Lipstick (Cremesheen)

This is my absolute favourite pale pink lipstick. It's described as a muted neutral pink but it appears slightly lighter than my natural lip colour on me. I've mentioned this lipstick on my blog before. I generally team it up with 'Just Superb' which is a cremesheen glass that is also described as a neutral pink.

Here's a little pic of me with 'Modesty' and 'Just Superb'

MAC Next Fad (Pro Longwear Lip Glass)

This is a gorgeous midtone cool pink lip gloss. It is quite pigmented and lasts for hours with beverage only. I also find this lip gloss makes your lips look fuller which is a bonus.

Here are the swatches of the different lipsticks.

I hope you found this post useful :) Let me know if there are any other types of lipsticks you want me to review and swatch, I'll be happy to do that for you. Leave comments below. See you in my next post!

My All-Time Favourite Skin Care Products

Monday, 2 December 2013

Hey Everyone!

I know it’s been a while but I've finally got a new blog post for you all! As some of you may know I was doing a journalism internship earlier last month which recently ended. It was probably the best internship I have done so far. It's actual chaos looking for a full time job! Especially as there's so much competition and it takes up a lot of time applying everywhere.

I have also recently started re-watching my all-time favourite TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer as I love watching it close to Christmas time! I've got through my DVD boxset pretty fast and I've just started season 4 now. Bet you were dying to know that! haha.

So I received a few requests to share my favourite skincare products with you, so I’ve decided to share with you my all-time favourites. A lot of these products are from The Body Shop. I’ve tried a lot of cheap brands and high end products but I always find myself going back to The Body Shop! They also offer a range of discounts and promotions from time to time which is great.

The products are 100% cruelty free and are made from the finest raw ingredients which only makes it even better.

First up are a few products from The Body Shop’s Seaweed collection, which are aimed at those with combination to oily skin. I have combination skin and find these products work really well on me!

Seaweed Day Cream

This day cream is definitely my all-time favourite day-time moisturiser. It gives a refreshing matte, shine-free finish without leaving the skin too dry. It also is the perfect moisturiser to apply before a primer when wearing foundation. Believe me when I say I have tried tons of moisturisers but I have not found a moisturiser quite like this!

Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser

This amazing facial cleanser is perfect for removing make-up as it removes impurities and rebalances the skin’s oil without over-drying the skin or clogging up pores. This cleanser also has a refreshing mattifying finish and smells lovely! Unlike make-up wipes, a cleanser properly rids the skin of foundation and blush. I use it after using a make-up wipe which allows it to do double the work!

Seaweed Clarifying Toner

This is honestly the best toner I have ever used. It removes traces of cleanser, make-up and impurities, allowing it to purify the skin as it refreshes your face and prepares the skin for moisturiser. It’s one of my favourite beauty products! Along with the other products from the Seaweed range, it also smells amazing.

Seaweed Night Treatment

When it comes to night-time moisturisers, I have a hard time picking the right one for me. Usually I find it’s too moist and takes too long to dry before I go to bed but this night treatment from The Body Shop is perfect for me! It dries on your skin almost instantly without actually leaving your skin dry. It moisturises your skin and smells divine. It also leaves skin clear, shine-free and hydrated. You don’t have to worry about getting moisturiser on your pillow!

Tea Tree Facial Wash

I only started using this face wash a few weeks ago but I've already noticed a huge difference with my skin! The face wash gives you much clearer skin while also getting rid of blemishes and impurities. This daily face wash is perfect for those with acne-prone skin or someone like me who has unexpected break-outs!

Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover

I got this lovely eye make-up remover when I was in the US and it works wonders! It gets rid of the toughest eye make-up whether it’s eye shadow or eye liner. It also doesn’t cause any irritation to the eye which is a bonus. Though it is oil-free it does seem to have an oil substance which glides onto your skin and gets rid of even the toughest of eye shadows! Definitely a must-try if you can find it.

That concludes my favourite skincare products. Have you tried any of my favourites out before? What would you add to my list? Leave comments below and thank you for reading!
