Fashion Blogger Competition

Wednesday, 19 June 2013

Hey guys! I hope you're all having a fantastic week!

As you all know, I have been working as an intern this week at Reveal magazine, which has been amazing so far! I have had the opportunity to transcribe celebrity interviews and contribute to the magazine as well, though I'll be on holiday when the issue comes out. I will make sure to write a more detailed account of my time when I get back from holiday.

As part of the fashion vouchers competition, I wanted to show you guys some of the websites I use for discounted, money saving fashion! You do not always have to dig deep into your pockets when it comes to staying on trend; there are so many amazing fashion outlets that sell affordable goodies for us fashionista's!

ASOS

I have been an avid ASOS fan since I can remember. I first discovered it in 2009 when I was looking for a dress for prom and I haven't looked back since! ASOS is always on trend and deliver us with the latest designs and fashion trendy gems through their own branded goodies. ASOS also have discounted brands like Lipsy and American Apparel whilst also recently providing us with highstreet favourites New Look and now Primark! ASOS also frequently have great student discounts up to 25% off whilst also having general sales throughout the year. I cannot recommend this website enough. The clothing from here is also of great quality and you get what you see through their break-through video catwalks that are provided with most item viewings. They also provide free worldwide shipping and you also have the choice of purchasing a yearly ASOS premiere account at the bargain price of £9.95. This includes free next day delivery, ASOS magazine subscription, free returns and VIP discounts!

Recent best purchases: Cath Kidston Make up Roll £17.50, ASOS jet pockets trousers £15, ASOS nude heels £12.

Check out ASOS.com

Boohoo

As you all know, I always rave about boohoo.com. Not only do they provide trendy clothing and accessories, they also frequently provide discount codes. Their discount codes are also viable for sale items! - Bonus! Boohoo also have  a range of sizes at a usually low price. Their maxi dresses and aztec prints are second to none and are a definite must have for any fashion savvy person! I particularly love that they have a 'back in stock' section so you can see if your favourite item has made a comeback!

Recent best purchases: Monochrome illusion dress £15, Purple racerback maxi dress £12, Lace panel denim shorts, block heel ankle boots £18.

Check out boohoo.com

Ebay

I couldn't have a money-saving list without including ebay.co.uk. The main reason I love ebay so much  is the fact that you can search for items that you missed in any given store and you most likely will find it here on ebay! You can also find great bargains from sellers selling designer brands. There are also a range of sellers on ebay that sell trendy gems at a discounted rate.

Recent best purchases: Fedora hat £2.18, River Island Lime crop top £10.50, Polka dot blouse £7.

Check out ebay.co.uk

New Look

New look is one of those places that you just can't help but go back to! Not only are they always up-to-date with the latest fashion, they provide yearly student discounts and free delivery to store on items over £20. I love the Kelly Brook collection and featured one of her dresses in an earlier post. I also shop at New Look for cami vest tops and basics like that - I find it is amazing quality at a reasonable price!

Best recent purchases: Kelly Brook Navy floral pencil dress £14, Lace peter pan collar top £7, Floral monochrome crop top £5, Monochrome aztec crop top £7.99, Pink aztec crop top £7.99.

Check out newlook.com.

H&M

The thing I love about H&M is that they always have sales! You can catch so many gems in H&M. They have a fantastic range of formal wear for work - which I also featured in my PR interview post. H&M provide me with the best blazers and shirts at a discounted price while also delivering good quality. I especially adore the jewellery range at H&M, there's always a necklace I want when I go on their website or pop in-store!

Best recent purchases: Navy blazer £15, Khaki lace back dress £7, Spike necklace (2 in 1) £6.99, Beyonce at H&M bikini £16 (garments sold separately).

Check out hm.com/gb.

Primark

For years, Primark has delivered affordable goodies whether it's clothes, accessories or shoes, but I feel now Primark is better than ever. The quality of their products have seriously increased and everyone wants a piece of Primark! I love the dresses at Primark especially - I cannot leave Primark without purchasing at least one! Primark is probably at the top of my list when it comes to money saving, so if you haven't been to Primark before, I suggest you get your skates on and head over there!

Best recent purchases: Mint green lace dress £13, Cream blouse £9, Monochrome lace panel dress £13, Lace peplum top £6, Gym shorts £3, Denim w/ lace dress £16, Coral textured dress £13.

You can check out their website here: http://www.primark.co.uk/.

Shopping tips:

- Use cashback sites like quidco to save some money when purchasing in-store and online.
- List items from low to high in terms of pricing when browsing through products.
- Search around for discount codes on sites such as fashionvouchers.com, hotukdeals.com and/or apply student NUS discount codes for extra money off.

Summer Holiday Beauty Supplies

Saturday, 15 June 2013

Hey beauties!

I have just recently gone on a small shopping spree to Superdrug in preparation for my holiday next Friday! I'm going to Tenerife and I wanted to get some essentials that I'd need during my time abroad. I have a busy week next week; I'm doing work experience for Reveal Magazine which I am insanely excited about! And then I'm jetting off into the sun. Happy times!

Garnier Ambre Solaire UV Sensitive Cream SPF 50+

First things first, if you're going to be spending a lot of time in the sun, it is imperative that you lather yourself with at least SPF 30 sunscreen. Everyone should be wearing at least SPF 15 all year round anyway! I like this Garnier one because I feel like it actually does its job! I always use this sunscreen when I go on holiday, even though it says its for kids! This SPF has a quite thick consistency but it is great for body coverage. This costs around £6-7.

Neutrogena Spectrum Face Advanced Sunblock Lotion SPF 100+

Okay so this SPF lotion is crazy high I know, its not from superdrug, I got it from Walmart whilst I was in Florida last year. I apply it to my face area as it is quite lightweight and easy to apply. I am especially wary of making sure my face and neck is properly covered in SPF as it is the most sensitive area, for me anyway. I can't remember how much this costs but it should be available online.

John Frieda Frizz-ease Perfecting Creme

I like to use this cream on my mid lengths and ends after I straighten my hair or if it gets frizzy after washing my hair. It gets rid of frizz and it makes the hair silky smooth! I highly recommend this product for people with frizz-prone hair. I bought this for around £3.

Biore Unclogging Scrub

I wanted something to help minimize my pores but I hadn't found the right product, until now. I haven't actually used this yet but I've heard rave reviews about it and I cannot wait to try it out. I also needed something to get rid of dead skin cells and to make my skin as clear as possible! This product sounded like the answer to all my problems. I might do an in-depth review once I have tried it out. This costs around £4.99

Argan Oil Hair Treatment

This is my all-time favourite Argan Oil. It smells luscious and it makes my hair soft and healthy. Its the best Argan oil that I have tried so far and I will probably keep on using this for a long time. I love that it has a dispenser as I find this is the easiest and most hygienic way to use oil-based products. This was a little pricey at £9.99 but it was definitely worth the investment!

Veet Wax Strips

I don't know about you but wax strips are a holiday essential for me! These Veet wax strips are my absolutely favourites, they can pull out even the longest of hairs as well as the shortest. The smell of it is also amazing. You get finish wipes which are oil based wipes you softly rub onto the sore waxed areas. I have tried the Superdrug brand wax strips and they were awful - they smelt bad and they didn't do the job. So if you're looking for a good set of wax strips that do what they promise, then Veet is the way to go! These cost only £5.10.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2 in 1

I haven't tried this out yet but this is also something that I was looking for. I've tried the Garnier 3 in 1 and I really liked it. I wanted to try something slightly different that was more suitable for acne prone skin. I hardly ever get acne but I thought this product might help with the breakouts that I tend to get around that time of the month! Neutrogena products are usually very good and I'm sure this is no exception. It costs around £4.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil Free Moisturiser

I needed a moisturiser that could control my oily areas while on holiday, as I do tend to get even more oily in the T-zone whilst in a hot country! Although this does not contain SPF, it is a good product for those who have oily, acne prone skin. This was also around £4.

Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs - Medium Glow

I have seen amazing reviews of this product on YouTube and I thought it was about time I tried it out. The shades available are light glow, medium glow, tan glow and deep glow. I don't really have any scarring or spots on my legs but I wanted something to make my legs look flawless. I do have a few stretchmarks on my knees that I hope will be covered by this. I have only tried this product on my arm and the colour is a little on the orange side (though I do have the tan glow which I still need to try out! - I heard this one is more yellow based). This is the perfect leg make up for holiday and general day wear - I didn't find that this had any shimmer or glitter to it either. I ordered this online at Superdrug where it's currently on sale for £6.59. Grab it while you can!

MUA BB Cream

I really liked the consistency and shade of this BB cream when I tested it out in-store. MUA have such great affordable products and I couldn't help but buy this one. They also had an eye shadow palette that I had to refrain myself from purchasing! Anyway, this BB cream is the perfect light foundation for holiday. I'm not sure if it will break me out like the Maybelline one did but I'll give it a try and let you know! I don't believe this BB cream contains SPF which is one of its major downsides. It only costs £4. Possibly the cheapest BB cream I have ever come across!

Sure Linen Dry Deodorant

This is my absolute favourite deodorant! The smell is divine and the product doesn't leave any white marks. It lasts for ages and gets rid of smelly armpits! I use this during the day usually, if I need to. I also use the Dove roll-on deodorant which is also amazing. Perfect for holiday! I bought this while it was on sale for just £2.47. :)

I hope you found this post a little helpful. You can head over to Superdrug to check any of these products out or go on the website by clicking here. Superdrug are currently doing free delivery until 17th June. What are your holiday essentials? Have you tried out any of the products I have listed - and are they any good? Leave your comments below. Thank you all so much for taking the time out to read my blog! Seriously it means so much. I love you all.

Interview Outfit: OOTD

Tuesday, 11 June 2013

Hey guys! I hope you're all well. I've been so sick lately and I am still recovering. Probably the worst week to get ill!

As you probably all know by now I have been applying to numerous PR and journalism jobs which have led me to a few interviews. Well today I had an interview with a well -established luxury fashion company and I thought I'd share with you the outfit that I wore for it!

I had no idea what I was supposed to wear as I know each company is different. I wanted to make an impression as this company is well respected and proficiently popular worldwide - as well as being a company that I really want to work for! So I opted for something that was somewhere inbetween chic and casual. As the interview was for a PR position, I didn't want to be too smart (although I'm pretty sure I looked overly smart!) Here's some not-so-good photos that my little (19 year old) sister took of me:

Lace top (Topshop) £15. Pencil Skirt (Zara) £19.99. Blazer (H&M) £15. Watch (Guess). Bracelet (Pandora). Cross Necklace (ASOS) £6. Handbag (justfab.co.uk) £17.50. Nude mid-heel courts (New Look) £12.99.

Here are some more photos, really sorry about the poor quality, guys! Here you can see the back of the H&M blazer I'm wearing - it has a peplum style to it. Also, I must point out that this gorgeous blazer has an inside pocket! Yes, I couldn't believe it either. Get it while you can though because this blazer jacket is on sale at the moment for £15 in H&M.

I wore the blazer and pencil skirt with a lace crop top to tone down the businessy vibe that this outfit was giving out! I probably could have got away with wearing jeans but I didn't want to take the risk. I also wore low heels as I didn't want to trip or fall flat on my face! I'll probably be more confident to wear higher heels next time. I hope you guys like this look, feel free to leave your comments below - tell me what you'd wear to a PR/journalism company interview. I would love to know what you think. I look forward to reading your answers!

Shoe Dupe? - ASOS and Boohoo.com

Sunday, 9 June 2013

Hey guys! I hope you're all well.

I just thought I'd share something with you. It's been on my mind for a few days. I have just ordered a pair of these GORGEOUS Chelsea boots from boohoo.com (yes, caps lock to emphasise how gorgeous they are!) and I noticed that ASOS sell a very similar pair, if not the same.

Heres the lovely Boohoo Cary's Black Elastic Insert Ankle Chelsea Boots

And here are the ASOS ABBI Chelsea Ankle Boots

They look identical right? Boohoo have priced their Chelsea boots at £30 while the ASOS pair are £38. I bought them from boohoo as they're doing 25% off on footwear at the moment! :)

What do you think? Are they one in the same? Leave your comments below. I hope you didn't find this post completely pointless! haha. I will be posting a review on a recent bloggers event I attended and a make-up post will be up soon! Thanks for reading.

May Favourites feat. ASOS, H&M, Redken and many more!

Wednesday, 5 June 2013

Hey beautiful!

It's that time of the month where I post my monthly favourites! I have bought quite a lot of stuff this month as it was my birthday month so I'm going to try and shorten it a little for this particular post. Anything not mentioned will be discussed in my next post :) Let's get started!

Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo

As some of you may know, in recent months I have dyed my hair ombre so I have had to invest in a few hair products to help me maintain my healthy locks! This Argan Oil Shampoo has immensely helped my hair retain it's oil balance. Whilst using it I have noticed a huge difference - the midlengths and ends of my hair aren't as dry, frizzy or straw-like and I find my hair is more manageable. This shampoo is small in size at 88.7ml (random I know) and costs £1.99. It's definitely worth a try!

Cath Kidston Daisy Rose Cosmetic Roll £17.50

I bought this the other day and I am completely in love with it! I have been looking for something like this for quite a while now and snatched at the opportunity to buy this in the sale! I also got extra discount from a birthday code. The design is so pretty and the material is really good. This also comes with a free little compact mirror! I can fit my make-up brushes in it with some of my actual make-up products. As you guys know I do have a lot of make-up so I have to invest in extra storage space.

This also has detachable compartments which is really cool! Overall this is a good buy and definitely one of my May favourites!

TIGI Bedhead Dumb Blonde Shampoo

I actually haven't used this yet as I have been using so many different shampoos this month but I have heard great reviews on it and plan to use it very soon.. it's still one of my favourites because the smell is gorgeous! Lame reason I know!

Redken Blonde Glam Shampoo

This shampoo is pretty good, It's a little expensive at £14 but I do really like this shampoo. The smell is divine and you only need a small amount so it will last you quite a long time... It makes my hair so smooth and helps to make my ends look more blonde! It tones down any brassiness in my hair and it makes it look overall flawless! Great buy this one :)

ASOS PETITE Exclusive Sequin Blazer

This blazer is pretty amazing. Not only does it look great, but the sequins DO NOT come off! This makes me so happy. The sequins and the overall jacket is very good quality and you won't find a trail of sequins around the house like you would with others! ( I will take a selfie in this very soon!) It's also currently on sale so make sure you head over to ASOS.com to check it out :) It's available in two colours as well. Perfect.

H&M Yellow Bikini

I know I did a whole blog post about bikini's but I have added another one to my collection. It is pretty similar to the Beyonce one but I really like this one because it has an underwired bikini top. The contrasting gold decoration really makes it a must have! The top and bottoms are sold separate.

Turquoise Braided Bracelet (Beyonce for H&M)

I bought this bracelet simply because I saw Beyonce wearing it.. It looked so good on her skintone that I had to buy it too! It's a lovely turquoise colour and it compliments darker skintones a lot in my opinion. The diamond stones are pretty and do not come off and the bracelet is adjustable so it will fit most people.

Straw Fedora Style Hat

This is my favourite hat at the moment. I bought it for my holiday this year and I cannot wait to wear it! It is SO cheap at just over £2! Delivery takes a few weeks but it is definitely worth it. I actually filmed myself in this for my Girls Just Wanna Have Sun blog post but the outfit didn't make the cut (oh well, maybe next time). I love the style of this beige coloured hat, the fit is a little snug but I manage to make it fit anyway! I would definitely recommend this to those with smaller heads (56-57cm). It's also available in a range of colours. Get yours by clicking here.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

I have a very difficult skin-tone in the sense that I always have trouble finding the right shade for foundations and BB creams. I bought this in the shade 'dark' and it looks pretty decent on me (though it was slightly dark for me.) It is very sheer and does what I want it to do - make my skin-tone even and hide larger pores! The only problem I have with this BB cream is the fact that it tends to make me break-out. I only realised this recently. That's disappointing. However, it really differs from each individual. What might not work on me might work on others and so on :)

ASOS Joystick Junkies 'Saved by the Bell' T-shirt

As a kid (and even now) I loved Saved by the Bell! It is definitely one of the best TV shows for young teenagers - adults in my opinion. I actually only recently rewatched the whole series including the College years (the college years is SO underrated!!) I saw this T-shirt on ASOS.com and really wanted to buy it. (I had some birthday money left over so why not?) The T-shirt is cotton material which is ideal for Summer and it has quite a loose fit - which I like. The t-shirt is very girly which makes it more wearable for me. Usually when I find TV show inspired T-shirts I always find that the design and style of it is generally very boyish or masculine, so it was nice to see a change!

Well that was my May favourites! I hope you guys enjoyed reading this blog as much as I enjoyed writing it - if you have any suggestions for my next blog please feel free to comment down bellow. Please also follow my blog for further posts. Thank you all so much, have a great day!

Girls Just Wanna Have Sun! - Summer Steals

Sunday, 2 June 2013

Hey Everyone!

I hope you're all enjoying this beautiful weather! Such a rarity here in the UK. Don't forget to apply SPF! I've been so busy applying for a number of media related jobs and receiving phone interviews that I haven't had time to finish off my May favourites, but it will be up sometime this week, I promise! I also hurt my hand which wasn't fun at all.

Today I wanted to show you guys some crop tops I got in the New Look sale. I've been a big fan of New Look for a very long time and adore all the little pieces they have. In these photos I'm wearing minimal make-up - just a lightweight BB cream [that I will include in my May favourites] and a deep red lipstick from MAC's Marilyn Monroe collection in 'Deeply Adored.' I hope you guys like.

Here goes..

Pink Aztec Print Crop

Pink Aztec Crop top (New Look) £7.99, High-waist Denim Shorts (River Island) £25, Black Structured Hand Bag (boohoo.com) £25, Ballet Flats (ASOS) £6.50, Tights (Primark) Around £1, Necklace Internacionale

This is a lovely little pink aztec crop top I picked up. It is quite long for a crop top, which I like because it's easier to adjust if you feel like you're showing too much flesh. This aztec crop is a summer essential! Aztec print is very 'in' at the moment and looks great with a chilled summer look. If you're like me and want to show minimal flesh this is perfect with some high-waisted shorts or a summery skirt. Sorry about the squinty eyes, it was so sunny outside, I could barely open my eyes haha. This is my favourite aztec crop that I own <3

Monochromo Aztec Print Crop

Monochrome Aztec crop top (New Look) £7.99, Fedora Wide Brim Hat (H&M) £7.99

This is another aztec crop top that I bought from New Look. It's black and white and it fits in perfectly with this years trend of monochrome. To go with this crop, I teamed it with the same high-waisted shorts, pumps and a lovely wide brim straw fedora! The crop has a slightly different pattern to the one above but the material of both of these crop tops are the same and they are extremely comfortable. It's always a bonus to be comfortable and fashion forward!

Monochrome Floral Print Crop Top

Monochrome Floral Crop Top (New Look) £5, Handbag (justfab.co.uk) £17.50, Sunglasses (River Island @ ASOS) £6

This is another monochrome crop top that I picked up, it's so pretty! This was in the New Look sale and as soon as I saw it I thought it was so me! This crop comes in tall, average and petite so there's one to fit everyone. I love floral print, the pattern is so perfect for summer.

If you liked any of these crop tops head over to newlook.com or pop into one of their stores to have a look at their massive sale. I hope you liked this post! Please comment and follow my blog for more updates, May favourites will be up very soon.
